Funky angled view showing the size and scale of the newer massive concrete bulk storage bins (two rows of four bins!) at the Ausbulk facility at Port Adelaide, showing the No. 2 Rail Shed in the background at left for size comparison. Out of the picture to the left are equally-large steel bulk storage bins, and further left are other bulk storage facilities and the No. 1 Rail Shed which is no longer used for grain but is used for the Bemax mineral sand trains that Pacific National run from just outside Broken Hill to Port Adelaide.

Vintage Alco locomotive 705 (the 700 class are identical to the former NSW/SRA 442 class 'jumbos') being used as the Ausbulk shunting loco at Port Adelaide. This is a very rare sight as GWA has hardly any Alco locos and almost none on standard gauge so it's quite a privilege to work on such a veteran Alco which is still painted in AN colours despite having GWA logos.

This is the 'No. 2 Rail Shed' at the Ausbulk facility at Port Adelaide. The track extends through the shed out to the back fence which borders a port access road. Beyond that road is the deep-water harbour of Port Adelaide itself! We can fit a maximum of 10 hopper wagons between the front door of the unloading shed and the back fence, so we unload grain trains in blocks of 10 (or less) wagons at a time. The brand new bulk grain facility at Pelican Point has a balloon loop but if there is a massive grain season both facilities would have to be used to cope with demand!

Oops! There is something not quite right with this ute. Can you figure out what it is? 8-) I had nothing to do with it - it happened when I was away on a Darwin trip.. Currently being 'paraded' on this flat wagon outside the office at Dry Creek. Safety is a very serious business and it's very unfortunate that things like this occur but they highlight just how important it is to be vigilant all the time and mindful of hazards.

Have to admire her memory and persistence so I fished out the ball from behind the couch with a coat hanger. Misty was very happy to have the "special" ball back. Here she is chewing it while resting it on my knee.

The ball bounced off Misty's nose and ended up down the back of the couch, out of reach from the both of us. I told her I couldnt reach. a couple of hours later she was still hounding me to get it (despite having many others she could play with). Thats her hand on my leg demanding i fetch the ball!
